Built for a personal office, the client requested a console table to display plaques and photos, along with some storage drawers for documents. Instead of going with a standard legged table, I crafted this floating console, allowing for the needed storage and display spaces without the footprint. Measuring 7’ long by 14” deep, the piece was built from solid 4/4 Cherry. Half-lap joinery keeps the design simple and contemporary, accented with hand-cut Walnut drawer pulls. The drawer boxes are built from Ash and move on waxed wooden runners with custom stops. The entire console was mounted using a traditional French cleat system, utilizing lateral forces and gravity to keep it floating securely.
